Opportunities offered by Central Carolina Community College
to High School Juniors and Seniors
Career & College Promise (CCP): Over 2,100 high school juniors and seniors are currently enrolled in 51 CCP pathways (including 48 career and technical pathways) earning college credit that can lead to earned certificates and diplomas prior to graduation and seamless college enrollment at CCCC or senior institutions. K-14/Lee County Promise: All eligible Lee County residents who graduate from a public high school for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 will be guaranteed up to two years of free in-state tuition and required fees at Central Carolina Community College. Students must have successfully completed at least four high school dual-enrollment courses or 12 credit hours via the Career and College Promise program. More details: www.cccc.edu/promise
Youth Apprenticeship Programs:
Lee County high school students participate in the Caterpillar Youth Apprentice Program in welding.
Harnett County high school students participate in the machining apprenticeship in partnership with several local industry partners and also work towards the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA-10) general industry safety card and National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credential

Lee Early College—An early college high school in partnership with Lee County Schools serving approximately 280 students. Students complete an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), or Applied Associate of Science (AAS) degree by the time they graduate from high school. Harnett County Early College—An early college high school in partnership with Harnett County Schools currently in its second year of existence. It is approved to enroll up to 125 total students focused on students earning the university transfer (A.A. or A.S.) degree within five years with additional opportunities to earn career and technical certificates. Chatham County School of Science & Engineering—An early college high school in partnership with Chatham County Schools currently in its third year of existence. It is focused on students earning the university transfer (Associate of Science or Associate in Engineering) within five years to prepare for transfer into STEM programs at a senior institution. TRIO Upward Bound Math & Science (U.S. Department of Ed Grant): In partnership with Harnett County Schools, the Upward Bound Math and Science program at Central Carolina Community College serves 60 students from Harnett County High Schools in grades 9 through 12. UBMS is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students and to help them recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and to encourage postsecondary degree attainment in math and science, and ultimately careers in the math and science profession. TRIO Upward Bound Programs (U.S. Department of Ed Grant): In partnership with Lee County Schools and Harnett County Schools, the UB program at Central Carolina Community College serves 120 students in grades 9 through 12. UB provides fundamental support to prepare students to enter college. The program provides opportunities for students to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. UB serves high school students from low-income families, high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree, and high school students who have a high risk for academic failure. The goal of UB is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from college. More details: www.cccc.edu/trio
Workshops of Weekends (W.O.W.): The Student Outreach & Recruitment Department partners with faculty to offer WOW that engages high school students (and middle school students) in weekend workshops to exposure them to high-skill, high-wage career and technical programs at CCCC. High School Instructional Days: The Student Outreach & Recruitment Department partners annually with Lee, Chatham, and Harnett County Schools to bring hundreds of students to “Instructional Day” to tour 7-8 CTE programs across campuses and counties to interact with faculty and gain exposure to career and technical program pathway options.
Manufacturing Day: The Industry Training Department and the Student Outreach & Recruitment Department coordinate annually with Lee, Chatham, and Harnett County Schools (and often other LEA’s) to bring hundreds of students on the first Friday of October (National Manufacturing Day) to the Howard-James Industry Training Center to learn about career and technical program opportunities at CCCC and local manufacturing career pathways. FAFSA Day: CCCC hosts an annual FAFSA Day event in partnership with the College Foundation of North Carolina in late October allowing students and their families meet with college financial aid officers who help them complete and submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In 2018, the event takes place on Saturday, October 27 on the Lee Main Campus in the Academic Assistance Center.
College Application Week: The Student Outreach & Recruitment Department partners annually with Lee, Chatham, and Harnett County Schools to have a presence in OUR high schools for College Application Week & Financial Aid Nights (October 15-18 in 2018). They help students submit online applications for admission in all high schools during this specific week while also making additional visits for group and individual admissions advising continuously throughout the year.
